ROS -1
DESCRIPTION – ROS 1 gene is located at 6q22. ROS 1 is a receptor of tyrosine kinase. The ROS 1 gene fuses with part of another gene and activates ROS 1 gene which causes uncontrolled cell growth and leads to cancer.
CLINICAL UTILITY – to identify NSCLC patients who can benefit from crizotinib therapy
METHODOLOGY – fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue block. Protect the slides from excessive heat.
