t(15;17): by PCR PML Ra Ra(AML-M3) Blood
DESCRIPTION – acute pro-myelocytic leukemia is characterized by a specific t (15;17) chromosomal translocation and a particular sensitivity to retinoic acid. The translocation fuses the PML gene to the retinoic acid receptor alpha gene resulting in the production of a PML-RAR alpha fusion protein
CLINICAL UTILITY – for pro-myelocytic leukemia (AML-M3)
METHODOLOGY – polymerase chain reaction (PCR)
TURN AROUND TIME – 8 days
COLLECT – lavender (EDTA) or bone marrow and extracted RNA
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – transport 5 ml whole blood or 3 ml bone marrow. Specimens must be received within 48 hours of collection due to liability of RNA. Transport 40 micro-liter RNA
STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – whole blood or bone marrow should be critically refrigerated and extracted RNA should be critically frozen
STABILITY – ambient: 1 hour; refrigerated: 48 hours; frozen: indefinitely (extracted RNA)
UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – serum, plasma, extracted DNA, CSF, FFPE tissue and clotted specimens
MRP – 4400.00
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory
